Humankind’s insignificance in the face of cosmic vastness is teased in this demo from Alessandro Guzzo, with Lovecraftian aliens lurking in the lakes and skies of its rustic setting. Guzzo has experience in the genre, with their previous games, The Alien Cube and The Land Of Pain, following similar themes, and Cosmic Fear is threatening to become an intriguing and highly atmospheric first-person horror.

Your position is slightly vague: you’re investigating strange events in a series of wooded areas, the odd deserted cabin and house popping up, usually locked, and always containing a mystery or clue as to the strange goings-on.

Cosmic Fear offers outstanding visuals, making exploration a fun and immersive experience. Whether this can be carried across to the final game remains to be seen; but it shows much promise with some spine-tingling moments and horrific scenes.
