The sci-fi horror genre’s been quiet lately, so it’s good to see another indie game surface that’s set in the far-flung future. Naturally, things aren’t going so well.

The player is a mining investigator, sent to a distant facility when it goes mysteriously dark. The game begins as you travel down in an old, rusting elevator, before arriving at a dark and foreboding industrial area. Noises clank in the distance. Shadows flit as you walk nervously by. With more than a hint of Dead Space, the player proceeds to an office area before beginning to explore more of the facility.

Dreadshell’s demo is short, but gives you a good flavour of what to expect, with some genuinely chilling moments. Expect a full release sometime next year.
