Itch Terror: They Not Fae
We love our feline friends here at Indie Horror Gamer, so when this rescue-the-cat horror crossed our paths, we couldn’t help but do our best to recover the errant puss.
The player is a teenager, out for a stroll with her cat when the little thing is suddenly startled and bolts through the countryside and into a deserted factory. With the help of a cat-signal wifi, its meows and footsteps, you can track your pet, but something is tracking you, too…
With its PS1-style display and well-crafted gameplay, They Not Fae is an engaging, if short, horror experience. The monsters are devious creatures, disguising themselves as everyday objects—and your cat, and even yourself!—and the maze-like factory offices make it far from a stroll in the park. Your camera is your valuable assistant, offering tips, echoes from ghosts and a handy light for the building’s darker sections.
They Not Fae is another decent entry in the 90s-style retro horrors. You can purchase it for $4.99 on Itch and it’s also available on Steam. Please support this one-person indie team if you are able.
But which is the real one?
