The Ones Beyond is another solo-dev horror game, this time set within a dense forest. As we all know, forests are super-creepy, so it’s a good start.

In the slim plot, you’re searching for your sister at the place she was last seen. Unfortunately for you, this wasn’t Tesco car park, but the dark and foreboding woods, populated by aggressive ghosts and a sinister cult.

The Ones Beyond’s demo is very brief, but gives a good idea of what to expect in the full game. Ambient sound is well-used, and the enemies don’t always attack, sometimes preferring to feed on your fear, which is an interesting mechanic. With no weaponry or means to fight back, expect a stealth-style horror when The Ones Beyond finally arrives.
