The 404 and zombie genres meet in this action-packed game from YSLJ Studio. You’re a lone survivor, forced to scavenge by day, raiding suburbia for food, weapons and building materials, before constructing a base to protect yourself. The day/night cycle keeps you on your toes, while, in a novel twist, some of the undead can be turned into dumb servants, doing your bidding rather than trying to chomp on your brains.

Having played the demo, we can confirm that it’s all rather fun, although some of controls could do with tweaking. There also doesn’t appear to be much 404 psychological horror on display—but that’s to take nothing away from the thrill of plundering houses, discovering weapons both melee and ranged, and then using them to thin out the undead horde. Expect plenty of the crimson stuff as you swing baseball bats, swords and more in a game that reminds us of Techland’s Dead Island.

404 Survivor is slated for release inside the next three months. In the meantime, here are a few screens from our time with the demo.
