Itch Terror: Welcome To Home Ownership
If you’re lucky enough to have bought or rented your first house already, you’ll know that feeling of excitement when you move in. Everything’s empty, and there’s lots to do, but it’s a fun time, sorting out your stuff and making the place your own.
This indie horror from Flamez Playz places you inside your new home on the first night of ownership. The house is eerily empty, but the street outside looks nice enough. After ordering the regulation takeaway (from a pizza joint called Tony’s), it’s time to take the relevant boxes to each room before turning in for the night. In a standout creepy segment, there’s no leaving all the lights on here; each one has to be turned off in turn until you’re in your room and ready for bed.
Then the bumps start. And the weird noises. And the pizza guy has a story to tell, or rather, he doesn’t, just teasing you about some unfortunate event for the previous occupants. Via notes scattered around the house, the player discovers what happened and, therefore, the nature of the sad ghost that’s haunting their new abode.
Welcome To Home Ownership is a short 90s-themed horror that’s more chiller than outright scary. It does have its moments, however, and is highly recommended if you’re looking for something quick to fill in an hour or two.
You can currently purchase Welcome To Home Ownership as a value-busting bundle alongside two of Flamez’s other games, What The Walls Withheld and Some Assembly Required, for just $3.
